Lipschitz Equivalence of Cantor Sets and Algebraic Properties of Contraction Ratios

In this paper we investigate the Lipschitz equivalence of dust-like self-similar sets in Rd. One of the fundamental results by Falconer and Marsh [On the Lipschitz equivalence of Cantor sets, Mathematika, 39 (1992), 223– 233] establishes conditions for Lipschitz equivalence based on the algebraic properties of the contraction ratios of the self-similar sets. In this paper we extend the study by examining deeper such connections. A key ingredient of our study is the introduction of a new equivalent relation between two dust-like self-similar sets called matchable condition. Thanks to a certain measure-preserving property of bi-Lipschitz maps between dust-like self-similar sets, we show that the matchable condition is a necessary condition for Lipschitz equivalence. Using the matchable condition we prove several conditions on the Lipschitz equivalence of dust-like self-similar sets based on the algebraic properties of the contraction ratios, which include a complete characterization of Lipschitz equivalence when the multiplication groups generated by the contraction ratios have full rank. We also completely characterize the Lipschitz equivalence of dust-like self-similar sets with two branches (i.e. they are generated by IFS with two contractive similarities). Some other results are also presented, including a complete characterization of Lipschitz equivalence when one of the self-similar sets has uniform contraction ratio.

In this work, we define the notion of an algebraic distance in algebraic cone metric spaces defined by Niknam et al. [A. Niknam, S. Shamsi Gamchi and M. متن کاملResonance between Cantor Sets
Let Ca be the central Cantor set obtained by removing a central interval of length 1 − 2a from the unit interval, and continuing this process inductively on each of the remaining two intervals. We prove that if log b/ log a is irrational, then dim(Ca + Cb) = min(dim(Ca) + dim(Cb), 1), where dim is Hausdorff dimension. More generally, given two self-similar sets K,K′ in R and a scaling parameter...
متن کاملCantor Sets, Binary Trees and Lipschitz Circle Homeomorphisms
We define the notion of rotations on infinite binary trees, and construct an irrational tree rotation with bounded distortion. This lifts naturally to a Lipschitz circle homeomorphism having the middle-thirds Cantor set as its minimal set. This degree of smoothness is best possible, since it is known that no C1 circle diffeomorphism can have a linearly self-similar Cantor set as its minimal set.
متن کاملThe approximate solutions of Fredholm integral equations on Cantor sets within local fractional operators
In this paper, we apply the local fractional Adomian decomposition and variational iteration methods to obtain the analytic approximate solutions of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind within local fractional derivative operators. The iteration procedure is based on local fractional derivative. The obtained results reveal that the proposed methods are very efficient and simple tools ...
متن کاملC*-algebraic Characterization of Bounded Orbit Injection Equivalence for Minimal Free Cantor Systems
Bounded orbit injection equivalence is an equivalence relation defined on minimal free Cantor systems which is a candidate to generalize flip Kakutani equivalence to actions of the Abelian free groups on more than one generator. This paper characterizes bounded orbit injection equivalence in terms of a mild strengthening of Rieffel-Morita equivalence of the associated C*-crossed-product algebra...
